The division of Student Life is now accepting applications for a range of scholarships that celebrate undergraduate student leaders who play active roles in campus life.

Nine scholarships, many named in honor of Northeastern leaders and graduates, recognize undergraduate students at different stages of their academic journeys. These awards highlight contributions to student activities, demonstrated leadership, a commitment to equality and social justice and religious understanding.

For example, Greg Jarvis Memorial Scholarships is named after a Northeastern graduate and crew member aboard the Challenger space shuttle and honors students who exemplify perseverance, integrity, spirit and pride. The Thomas I. Atkins Social Justice Scholarship commemorates Boston’s first African American city councilor and recognizes students who have shown leadership in advancing social justice.Scholarship awards range from $300 to $5,000. Some scholarships require applicants to demonstrate financial need or a minimum 2.5 GPA.

The online application with supporting materials — an essay and a recommendation letter — must be submitted by 11:59 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 25. Both U.S. citizens and eligible non-U.S. citizens can apply.

Selected recipients will be notified by email in late March and recognized at the Student Life Awards ceremony in April.
