NU Talks: New hope from old drugs

Michael Pollastri, associate professor and chair of the Department of Chemistry and Chemical Biology, brings Northeastern’s place at the center of healthcare research into sharp focus with a discussion about repurposing existing drugs to treat neglected tropical diseases, including malaria and African sleeping sickness. “The best way to discover a new drug is to start with an old one,” he says. Pollastri addressed that issue during remarks at the opening of the Interdisciplinary Science and Engineering Complex on April 3. Video by Benjamin Bertsch and Adam Fischer/Northeastern University
