Jerry Hajjar installed as CDM Smith Professor in Civil Engineering

Jerry Hajjar, chair of the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering, was installed as the CDM Smith Professor in Civil Engineering at a ceremony on Nov. 14 in the Raytheon Amphitheater. The ceremony, which was hosted by President Joseph E. Aoun and College of Engineering Dean Nadine Aubry, featured a lecture by Hajjar on his research. Hajjar was selected for his outstanding scholarship and national leadership in the field of civil engineering, having made numerous contributions including the development of innovative structural systems for steel and composite steel/concrete building and bridge structures, novel modeling and assessment of infrastructure systems, and large-scale experimental testing of structures under dynamic loadings including earthquakes.
