  • Teach-ins: Knowledge is power

    The Boston Globe - 11/28/2011

In a throwback to an earlier era, hundreds of people attended a teach-in earlier this month at Northeastern University -€” a day of workshops about economic inequality. The event highlighted the role that academic centers have long played in protest movements; it’€™s no coincidence that, in the 1960s, the Boston area and Berkeley, Calif., were hotbeds of teach-ins. But the Northeastern event, which included academic experts as well as political and labor leaders, also reiterated an important message that should resonate across the ideological spectrum: knowledge is power.
