Officials: False alarms can cause mistrust

Northeastern University professor Max Abrahms called the mistake “dangerous” in light of the contentious relationship between the U.S. and North Korea, saying it could affect people’s trust in the government when a threat is real.
“It is dangerous in terms of escalating the conflict,” Abrahms said. “It is possible we could have escalated, which would have resulted in North Korea escalating.
