  • Boston Inno: Meet ‘Val’, the humanoid robot Northeastern is developing for NASA

    BostInno - 06/02/2016

On June 1, Northeastern showed off some of the first programming feats from its work with the humanoid robot R5 – better known as Valkyrie – it was granted from NASA. And she (no, not it) strutted her stuff, to say the least.

In November, 2015, Northeastern engineering professor Taskin Padir was chosen by NASA to receive the R5 to do research, prototyping and development on the bot. NASA is hoping that Padir and his student researchers, as well as a team at MIT, will help with humanoid robot advancements that would allow them to eventually use Valkyrie with its missions to Mars.
