  • GOP moves on as Bush dynasty draws to a close

    Whatever its other disappointments, the 2016 Republican nominating contest has at least done one thing that ought to bring a smile to supporters of Donald Trump, Ted Cruz, and Marco Rubio alike: It brought an end to the Bush dynasty in national politics. And the Republican Party will be better for that.

    The Bush dynasty really began on July 16, 1980, when Ronald Reagan named George H.W. Bush as his running mate. In retrospect, it was the worst thing Reagan ever did for the conservative movement.
