Based on the continuing commitment to the health and safety of the Northeastern community, the university is requiring that all guests ages 12 and older who attend campus indoor events must present proof of full vaccination or provide a negative COVID-19 test result within 72 hours of the event.

The requirement applies to guests at all of Northeastern’s locations in North America who attend indoor gatherings of all kinds, including athletic events, commencement and other ceremonies, and Family & Friends Weekend, which opens on Friday.

Northeastern students, faculty, and staff need only show their NU ID to gain admission to indoor events, based on the university’s ongoing vaccination requirement for all students and employees. Guests who are 11 or younger are not required to provide proof of vaccination or a negative test result.

On the Boston campus, all guests over the age of 2, regardless of vaccination status, are required to wear a mask that completely covers the nose and mouth, in accordance with the City of Boston’s indoor mask mandate. Masks may be removed indoors when actively eating or drinking, or by speakers while they are presenting or teaching.

For Family & Friends Weekend, which runs through Sunday, all registered guests 12 and older are required to provide documents enabling them to attend indoor events.

Those who have been fully vaccinated must show:

  1. Either the original vaccination card, or other documentation (in printed or digital form) that provides proof of being fully vaccinated; and
  2. For those 18 and over, a matching photo identification card in the same name as the COVID-19 vaccination card (state-issued driver’s license, state-issued ID card, or passport).

Those who have not been fully vaccinated are required to show either of the following:

  1. Proof of a negative COVID-19 test result within 72 hours of your campus arrival, in the form of a printout or digital PDF.
  2. Proof of a PCR/molecular test or a negative rapid/antigen test, administered by a healthcare professional, that includes their name and the date of the test as proof. Self-administered at-home rapid/antigen tests will not be accepted.

For Family & Friends Weekend, documents will be verified during check-in at the Curry Student Center Indoor Quad. Guests who have been verified will receive a wristband that must be worn for access to scheduled indoor sessions, sporting events, and dining halls.

Family & Friends Weekend will include many outdoor events that can be attended without proof of vaccination or a recent negative test. For more information, please see Northeastern’s events protocoland visitors protocol

Guests who choose to not comply with the COVID-19 policy for Family & Friends Weekend can request to have purchased tickets refunded for resale. This request must be placed in writing by Wednesday at 5 p.m. EDT.
