Social Media Co-op

The news@Northeastern team is looking for a creative, driven individual to play an active role in the development of social media communities for Northeastern University and the newly launched Experience Magazine. This person will work alongside writers, photographers, videographers, graphic designers and web developers in news@Northeastern’s fast-paced digital newsroom. 

The ideal candidate will understand the digital media landscape and think expansively about how to create fun, engaging, eye-catching content for a range of different platforms. He or she will have strong design skills, familiarity with Adobe Photoshop, and the ability to use digital media to connect with and create communities. This role will be instrumental in expanding Northeastern University’s social media presence and establishing a presence for Experience Magazine. 

Responsibilities

-Work with social media manager to brainstorm, develop and implement social media campaigns.

-Create engaging social media content and design interactive graphics for distribution.

-Monitor social media performance and conduct keyword analysis to identify viable ideas to increase engagement.

-Act as an on-campus ambassador at events to help grow social media followings. 

-Monitor and engage with social posts from community stakeholders.

-Assist in creating and optimizing paid social media campaigns to drive engagement and audience growth and achieve brand awareness goals. Use data to inform decisions. 

Skills

-Excellent oral and written communications skills with strong attention to detail.

-Working knowledge of Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, YouTube, LinkedIn, Snapchat and Reddit.

-Photoshop proficiency.

-Video-editing experience preferred, but not required.

-Self-starter with the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
