Earlier this month, Republicans introduced a new healthcare bill, the American Health Care Act, that would replace the Affordable Care Act and, they say, give Americans more choice in coverage and reduce the federal budget deficit. An independent analysis of the bill came out Monday. To help understand the new bill and the complex issue of healthcare reform, we turned to an interdisciplinary group of faculty. Here, in the first of a two-part series, we examine the major differences between “Obamacare” and the proposed American Health Care Act.
