The findings join a growing number of studies linking health problems and ultra-processed foods, including an increased risk of lung cancer and premature death. These foods make up 73 percent of the U.S. food supply, according to Northeastern University.

Such was the case with Neptune, an “electric blue” crustacean that now lives at Northeastern University’s Marine Science Center in Nahant, Massachusetts. Neptune is a rare specimen: The odds of a lobster being blue are about one in two million, according to a statement from the university.

Now as the school expands its offerings in Toronto and New York, it is using Claude, an Anthropic-backed AI assistant that Northeastern licenses, to generate much of the framework in under 10 minutes, saving enormous staff time, said Mary Ludden, senior vice president for strategic initiatives at Northeastern.

As with many technologies, however, this one is not free from dark sides: a recent paper by researchers including Aanjhan Ranganathan of Northeastern University presented at the Usenix Security Symposium in Seattle, a reference event on computer security, lists them.
