Laura Huang, faculty director of Women’s Entrepreneurship Center at Northeastern University, says that while more women entering the venture capital space is a step in the right direction, it’s not the full solution. 

The new research is “tipping all of these assumptions about sex differences and the influence of hormones on their head,” said Rebecca Shansky, a behavioral neuroscientist at Northeastern University and a co-author of the new study.

While only a quarter succeeded in weakening public health powers, the rulings have substantially chipped away at the legal standing of health agencies and officials to protect the public, said Wendy Parmet, director of Northeastern University’s Center for Health Policy and Law, who co-wrote the paper. 

“There’s really no empirical support for what they’re trying to do,” Leo Beletsky, a law professor at Northeastern University focused on substance use and addiction, tells Axios. “The fallout is going to be measured in lives lost.”

“It has been the desire of many entrepreneurs, foundations and policy leaders that microcredentials will become the substitute for expensive degrees,” Sean Gallagher, executive professor of educational policy at Northeastern University, said.

Today, nearly three-quarters (71 per cent) of employers perceive online educational credentials as on par with or of a higher quality than those completed in person, according to a 2021 Northeastern University study.
