Dear Northeastern University students,

Earlier this year, Northeastern University announced that beginning in the fall academic term, students attending Northeastern University’s campuses will be expected to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 by the first day of classes. Northeastern is now launching a process for students to submit proof of vaccination or request a religious or medical exemption to the policy.

Updated Vaccine Requirements

The vaccine requirement applies to students who attend classes on our U.S.-based campuses or students who visit our U.S.-based campuses. Due to local regulations, vaccines aren’t required for students located at our Canadian or United Kingdom campuses, but we strongly encourage every student to get the vaccine as soon as it becomes available to them.

Submit Proof of Vaccination by August 15th

Students should use the Vaccine Verification form—available on vaccine.northeastern.edu—to submit documentation of immunization against COVID-19. Please be ready to provide the date and manufacturer of your vaccine and to upload a picture or scanned copy of your vaccine card, medical record, or other verification document. Accessing the form through the Northeastern Wellness NOW Mobile app makes it easy to upload a photo from your phone.

If you have submitted a vaccine verification document using a different form or by email, you are required to submit the information again using this form. The form should be submitted as soon as possible, and no later than August 15.

If You Have Been Vaccinated at Northeastern

Students who received their vaccine from Northeastern University do not need to submit the Vaccine Verification form since Northeastern already has their vaccination record.

Approved Vaccines and Testing Requirements

Any vaccine approved in the United States or a vaccine listed for emergency use by the World Health Organization (WHO) will fulfill the requirement. Submitting the Vaccine Verification form will update students’ vaccination status in the COVID-19 Test Scheduler.

Vaccines Not Approved by the World Health Organization

Students who have received a vaccine that is not on WHO’s approved list above should still use the Vaccine Verification form to upload documentation for the vaccine they received. Presently, these students will need to continue following the testing and mask requirements for unvaccinated individuals.

Requesting an Exemption to the Policy

Students can use the same Vaccine Verification form to attest to a religious belief or medical condition that prevents them from getting the vaccine. Presently, these students will need to continue following the health and safety protocols for unvaccinated individuals– wearing a mask indoors and being tested every seven days if they are regularly on a campus that requires testing.

If You Have Difficulty Accessing the Vaccine

Students can also use the Vaccine Verification form to indicate they are having difficulty in accessing a COVID-19 vaccine. For international students who may have limited access, Northeastern will assist you in getting vaccinated soon after your arrival.

As we move toward a fully reopened campus life, widespread vaccination of our student body will help keep our community safe and healthy. Thank you for following the vaccine requirement. If you have any questions about the details of the vaccine requirements, please contact covid19vaccine@northeastern.edu with questions.

Sincerely,

Ken Henderson
