Dear Colleagues:

Over the past year, Northeastern staff have adapted and performed like never before. Faced with the most challenging public health crisis in our lifetimes, you pulled together and ably supported the university’s educational and research missions. I know that our students and faculty are grateful for your incredible contributions throughout this unprecedented period.

As we turn our sights to a more hopeful future, I’m writing to provide clarity on how we will approach our work going forward, particularly with regard to the Alternative Work Arrangements that became necessary during the pandemic. Moving forward, the default approach will be that staff will work on site at our various campuses. Alternative Work Arrangements will be permitted in specific instances, provided that they benefit the university and are approved by the relevant Senior Vice President.

Guidance for your Division will be forthcoming from local senior management. If you have questions, please speak with your divisional point of contact:

Office of the Provost – Breean Fortier

On behalf of the university’s senior leadership, I thank you again for all that you’ve done to keep Northeastern moving forward. The university not only weathered the pandemic—we were able to innovate and prepare for a post-pandemic state that is even stronger than we were before Covid-19 hit. I look forward to working with you and your teams as we take Northeastern to new heights.
