Dear Staff, Faculty, and Students:

I am writing to provide you with an important update on the Northeastern response to the COVID-19 pandemic in Mecklenburg County.

In accordance with the Mecklenburg County Stay-at-Home order announced today, Northeastern’s location in Charlotte will be closed effective Thursday, March 26 through April 16, 2020. Staff will work remotely, and only essential university personnel will be permitted access to these facilities, if and when deemed necessary. Online and remote instruction will continue as planned. Staff are still available by email, phone, and through virtual meetings.

We urge you to review the county’s FAQs on the Stay-at-Home Order and to follow the public health directives:

Please visit Mecklenburg County Public Health for ongoing updates. If students have any concerns or questions, we encourage you to contact We Care at wecare@northeastern.edu. If students are experiencing anxiety, Northeastern has 24/7 mental health support available through Find@Northeastern. Call 877.233.9477 at any time of the day or night for support.

We will continue to follow all local public health guidelines so that we can work together to contain the pandemic and keep our community safe. As always, please consult the university’s dedicated COVID-19 website for the latest information from Northeastern University.

Sincerely,

Cheryl Richards

Regional Dean and CEO
