Meet the United Nations expert on sexual orientation and gender identity

Since 2018, Victor Madrigal-Borloz has served as the first independent expert on sexual orientation and gender identity at the United Nations, raising awareness of the violence and discrimination people face worldwide because of their sexual orientation and gender identity.  Madrigal-Borloz will lead a discussion of his role on Monday, Jan. 13, at noon in room 230 of Dockser Hall. 

Discuss the role of public defenders

Join a panel discussion on the role of modern public defenders with Aisha McWeay, executive director of Still She Rises, an office that provides legal representation for low-income mothers; Brendon Woods, chief public defender at the Alameda County Public Defender’s Office; and Justine Olderman, executive director of the Bronx Defenders, followed by a networking reception. The panel will take place on Tuesday, Jan. 14 at 4 p.m., in room 250 in Dockser Hall. 

Get career advice with Scout

Scout, Northeastern’s student-led design studio, will host Emily Landsman, creative director and industry advisor for Shoe York City, a fashion and footwear design consulting firm. The event will take place on Thursday, Jan. 16 at 6 p.m., in room 305 in Shillman Hall. 

Learn about the economics of nature with NCH at Northeastern

NCH at Northeastern will host professor Partha Dasgupta, for a two-part lecture on how economic models of growth and development interact with natural systems, and how we can reverse destructive trends. Part one of the series will be held on Tuesday, Jan. 21, at 6:15 p.m. Greenwich Mean Time, in the Drawing Room on the London campus.

The Dolce Center for the Advancement of Veterans and Servicemembers will host a community reception for local veterans and service members, along with potential employers and local partners.
