Next week, Northeastern University will honor the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. as part of an annual tradition spanning more than three decades.

The annual Martin Luther King Jr. Convocation will be held on Friday, Jan. 13, at 11:45 a.m. in Blackman Auditorium. The event, sponsored by the John D. O’Bryant African-American Institute, will feature remarks by Boston City Councilor Tito Jackson, who represents the neighborhood of Roxbury.

Later in the day, the School of Law’s Civil Rights and Restorative Justice project will sponsor a talk by Pulitzer Prize-winning author Isabel Wilkerson at 4 p.m. in 240 Dockser Hall. Wilkerson’s talk is entitled, “Voices from the Black Migration.”

The university will also honor King’s life with its annual King Day of Service and Leadership on Monday, Jan. 16. Students will participate in a variety of service projects on campus and in workshops on topics such as conflict resolution and community building.
