The 8:05

Timing is everything

Everyone knows how much I admire the work of Northeastern’s award-winning photographers. I’ve showcased their brilliance in the 8:05 many times. My new favorite image (I’m getting a framed copy for my office!) is this spectacular shot taken by Alyssa Stone last week:

06/01/23 – Boston, MA – A member of the Northeastern community walks Daniel  Anguilu  and Cedric Douglas ’ collaborative mural on the side of the now former Punter’s Pub  on Huntington Avenue on Thursday, June 1, 2023. Photo by Alyssa Stone/Northeastern University

I asked Alyssa if it was planned in some way or more random. She said that had been in the West Village section of campus looking for shadows so she could capture an artsy feature photo. Walking back to our office at Columbus Place, she was approaching the recently repainted “One Hundred Years of Solitude” mural by Texas-based muralist Daniel Anguilu. (You can learn more about the mural here).

Alyssa was pleasantly surprised that there were no cars parked in front of the mural, and then when this student with very stylish yellow pants started walking by Alyssa sped up to get this striking shot.
