Northeastern’s global campuses serve up Thanksgiving spirit and feast
Northeastern students spending Thanksgiving on global campuses can enjoy festive meals, fun events and a sense of home away from home.

Vritti Chatta, 18, a first-year student at Northeastern University, loves spending Thanksgiving with her family, reflecting on what they are grateful for.
This year, though, she will be marking the holiday thousands of miles away from her parents, her sister and her California hometown.
“There’s only two weeks between Thanksgiving and winter break, so it’s just a lot for me to travel back and forth,” said Chatta, who studies economics and business administration in the D’Amore-McKim School of Business.
Instead of a cross-country dash, she will be staying on Northeastern’s Boston campus and gearing up for finals with friends, though she admits she will miss the familiar comfort of home.
Chatta is one of many Northeastern students who, for several reasons, will be spending Thanksgiving Day on the university’s global campuses this year. Whether in Boston, Oakland or London, they will have ways to enjoy a festive meal with friends.
On the Boston campus, The Eatery at Stetson East will be open 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. throughout the Thanksgiving weekend, offering a lineup of fall-inspired dishes. Those who would like to take a meal to go — for a cozy night of studying or streaming — will be able to use ReusePass.
Thanksgiving weekend at Northeastern’s Boston campus would be incomplete without ice hockey. The women’s team faces Penn State at Matthews Arena at 3 p.m. on Nov. 28, while the men’s team will take on Brown at 4 p.m. on Nov. 29.
To add to the holiday spirit, the Holiday Market at Snowport in Boston features more than 125 makers, including food, custom cocktail bars and festive decor. The market is located at 100 Seaport Blvd. The market is closed on Thanksgiving Day, but open 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Friday through Saturday, and 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Sunday.
Oakland, California
In Oakland, students can join a Friendsgiving lunch at Founders Commons between 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. on Nov. 27. It will feature a traditional Thanksgiving meal with turkey and all the trimmings, plus table decor courtesy of the Mills Community Farm. Reservations are encouraged, but not required.
For one extra meal swipe, students can bring home a leftovers feast or a grab-and-go meal for later.

Across the Atlantic in London, students far away from home can gather with their Northeastern family for a three-course, family-style Thanksgiving feast at Bloomsbury Ballroom (Victoria House, Bloomsbury Square, WC1B 4DA) to mark the holiday. The event will also feature an opportunity to take a selfie with President Joseph E. Aoun. Last-minute sign-ups are available.
In addition, plenty of establishments in London are offering American feasts. Big Easy, a BBQ and crabshack chain with a branch in Covent Garden, will be serving a traditional pit-smoked turkey meal with stuffing, cornbread, sweet potatoes and green bean casserole.
If Thanksgiving just isn’t the same without the steady stream of football on the TV, pubs and bars across the city will be showing games. The closest to campus is Broadwood near Liverpool Street (25 Old Broad St, London EC2N 1HN), which is an official NFL partner.
Finally, the Christmas market at St Katherine Dock, only a stone’s throw away from Devon House, is sure to get visitors into the festive mood.
Back in Boston, Chatta said she may spend part of the long weekend with relatives, living about 30 minutes away from the city.
Her first year at Northeastern has been “pretty good so far.”
“I have a good set of roommates, and that really builds your experience,” she said. “We get along pretty well, so that’s really good.”
