In search of Northeastern

My colleagues and I in External Affairs are constantly looking for ways to quantify and track the university’s brand strength. Here is a new metric that we’re building into our brand dashboard. It’s simply the total number of searches for the term “Northeastern University” over the past seven fiscal years. This includes all major search engines such as Google, Yahoo, Bing, et al.

A chart titled "Northeastern University" search that shows a bar graph of how many searches the phrase 'Northeastern University' has received from FY17 through FY23. The bar graph increases from left to right, showing an increase in the number of searches each fiscal year.

There are many other ways to slice this data—by country or region, for example—to get a more textured view. I’ll keep sharing these kinds of metrics as we develop them.
