Northeastern forward Chloé Aurard scored on a giveaway in front to give the Huskies as took a 2-1 lead over BU in the second period in the 42nd Women’s Beanpot final.

The sophomore forward’s second goal in the match, stunned the crowd Walter Brown Arena at Boston University; her first, off a rebound evened the score after the Terriers drew first blood.

Junior forward Kristina Schuler scored a shorthanded goal at 4:55 into the opening period, beating Northeastern goalie Aerin Frankel, with a nifty one-on-one move on a breakaway.

Frankel, who is averaging a stingy 1.06 goals allowed per game, made 9 saves in the first period and brushed off a barrage of shots in the second.

Aurard, the second-leading scorer in Hockey East, tied it up when chipped a shot past BU goalie Corinne Schroeder at 17:55. Immediately after, freshman forward Jess Schryver and sophomore forward Alina Mueller swarmed Aurard along the Northeastern side of the ice.

Northeastern is 3-0 against BU this year. But the Huskies haven’t won the tournament since 2013, and the Terriers are looking to win a second straight Beanpot.

The fourth-ranked Huskies (25-3-1), winners of their last 10 games, have already clinched the regular-season title of Hockey East, and are looking for a record 17th Beanpot title. BU (19-6-3) is No. 9 in the PairWise national rankings.

Northeastern is also competing for a chance to complete Beanpot sweep, a feat the Huskies hockey teams haven’t carried off in 32 years. The Northeastern men celebrated their third straight Beanpot on Monday after a thrilling 5-4 double-overtime defeat of BU.
