Live jazz, BBQ, a sunset cruise, and CommencementFest: How seniors can end the year in style

Seniors—before you turn tassels and toss caps, Northeastern want to send you off in style. CommencementFest is right around the corner, and these Senior Week events are still open through Friday to reserve your tickets.

The Senior Gala

Enjoy the smooth sounds of a live jazz band—along with food and beverages—at the Senior Gala, taking place Friday , April 27 from 6:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. at the ISEC Atrium. This is a 21+ event, and IDs will be required for entry in addition to a ticket to the event. Because a limited number of tickets are available, this event is for seniors only.

Sunset Cruise

You’ve managed to stay afloat through your academic journey! Reward yourself with a sunset cruise around the Boston Harbor on Sunday, April 29 from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. The cruise, which is also a 21+ event, includes a dinner buffet and DJ entertainment aboard the ship. Shuttle buses to the dock—located at 200 Seaport Blvd., Boston—depart Chicken Lou’s at 3:15 p.m. This event is open to seniors and one guest each. Attendees must have their own separate tickets.

BBQ Carnival

This free Senior Week event doesn’t require a ticket—just your appetite. Head to Centennial Common on Tuesday, May 1 from 12 p.m. to 2 p.m. for games, senior swag, and free barbecue.

Newport Trip and Vineyard Tour

Regretting those weekends spent studying when you could have taken a day trip to Newport, Rhode Island? Here’s your chance. Tour a vineyard, check out the historic mansions, shop along Thames Street, or just spend a day relaxing by the shore. Vineyard tour buses leave Chicken Lou’s on Wednesday, May 2 at 9:50 a.m., 10:50 a.m., 11:50 a.m., and 12:50 p.m. This event is open to seniors and one guest each. Tickets a required for all attendees.

Brunch & Cap Decorating

Enjoy brunch while flexing your creative muscles and adding some flair to that graduation cap—art supplies. This event, held Thursday, May 3 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the CSC West Addition Mezzanine, is free for seniors and two guests each.

CommencementFest

CommencementFest is on Thursday, May 3 from 5:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Centennial Common. The evening features decadent food and drinks, interactive activities, photo ops, and much more. Take photos in front of the green screen, enjoy live performances by living statues, and participate in a unique community art experience. All graduating seniors and their families are welcome to attend this memorable night. CommencementFest is complimentary, but registration is requested.
