Northeastern is on a delayed opening Wednesday after a massive snowstorm dumped well over a foot of snow on the Greater Boston region, as Facilities crews worked around the clock to keep the university’s Massachusetts campuses clear and safe.

All classes scheduled to start at 10 a.m. and after will go on as usual, and administrative offices will also open at 10 a.m. Online classes remain unaffected and will continue to be accessible to students. Northeastern’s regional campuses in Charlotte, Seattle, Silicon Valley, and Toronto will maintain normal operations.

Mark Boulter, director of building services for Facilities, said the snow team cleared campus roadways and pathways all day Tuesday in the face of whiteout conditions and dipping wind chills, noting that the snowstorm’s duration was challenging. The snow team comprised about 100 people between staff and contracted workers, Boulter said. They’ll continue clearing Massachusetts’ campuses on Wednesday.

“We’re just trying to ensure the Northeastern community can move around safely. I also have to say students did a great job getting their vehicles out of the North Lot so we could clear that space,” Boulter said. “The snow team is a dedicated group. I can’t say enough about them.”

Northeastern Dining staff made sure the snow team was well fed throughout the day and night. In all, about 3,000 meals were served at Stetson East and about 1,000 meals were served at International Village, according to Maureen Timmons, director of dining services. The most popular items among students on Tuesday: waffles and omelets at Stetson East and French toast and fruit at International Village.

Snell Library and the Curry Student Center will operate on a normal schedule, and the Marino Center and Squashbusters will open at 8 a.m.
