Sights, sounds, and social posts from Welcome Week

Welcome Week 2017 came and went in a flash. The weeklong celebration of the spirit of Northeastern was jam-packed with activities for new and returning students alike. Here are some of the highlights.

Who is Alex?

A group of Northeastern freshmen thought they were participating in a focus group to test a new prototype of the Amazon Echo. But they were thrown for a loop when “Alex” started asking about their singing skills, their shoes, and their Spanish language prowess.

Welcome, from the president

President Joseph E. Aoun formally addressed Northeastern’s 120th entering class for the first time during the President’s Convocation. “We need to be constantly ahead of robots and smart machines by cultivating what we have that is unique: creativity, entrepreneurship, cultural agility, ethics, diversity, the global perspective,” he said.

A picture’s worth a thousand words, and we have hundreds of them. So, in 100,000 ways: Welcome home.
