Take 5: Campus activities this summer

Here are five ways students, and the entire Northeastern community, can stay involved on campus this summer through a variety of activities and events:

1. The Northeastern Resident Student Association is hosting three more BBQ events on Centennial Common—including Tuesday (today) from 1-3 p.m. The theme of Tuesday’s BBQ is “summer safety” and will include free food as well as prizes, giveaways, and more. The other two RSA BBQ events are scheduled for July 3 and Aug. 5.

2. Feeling the World Cup fever?! Head to afterHOURS in the Curry Student Center to catch all the World Cup action. Here’s a rundown of the games afterHOURS will show.

3. Every summer, the Center for Student Involvement runs Summester, a series of field trips, Red Sox game outings, concerts, and more for students, faculty, and staff at discounted prices. Summester also includes Keepin’ It Cool events on Wednesdays on Centennial Common where visitors are treated to free ice cream and other giveaways.

4. Throughout the rest of the summer, the Office of Career Development is hosting LinkedIn workshops as well as small group meetings focusing on job search strategies. Check the schedule for more information.

5. For ways to stay active, check out the variety of weekly dance workshops as well as yoga sessions in Sacred Space. Check the campus calendar for more details. This is also the last week to try out free ballroom dance lessons hosted by the NU Ballroom Dance Club. The lesson, American Rumba, is at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday in CSC Dance Studio B.

Also, registration for Summer II intramurals begins Monday, June 30, and ends Monday, July 7. More information will be available on the Campus Recreation site soon. Intramurals to be offered: basketball, soccer, sand volleyball, indoor volleyball, co-rec floor hockey, cornhole, ping pong, squash, racquetball, wiffle ball and extreme dodgeball.
