Steven Kadish appointed Senior VP and Chief Operating Officer

Northeastern University president Joseph Aoun has appointed Steven Kadish for the newly created position of Senior Vice President and Chief Operating Officer. A highly experienced administrator and leader in managing and transforming complex organizations, Kadish will lead a broad portfolio of operational and business responsibilities.

“As a member of the senior leadership team, Steve will help with strategic planning and innovation initiatives across a range of critical university functions,” President Aoun wrote in an email communiqué to Northeastern faculty and staff. “Steve brings tremendous experience to this new opportunity . . . please join me in welcoming him to Northeastern.”

Kadish will directly oversee the existing departments of Facilities, Human Resources Management and Business Services. He will also share management of Information Services with the Provost. Kadish will also manage an office of real estate planning and development, and integrate the critical functions of public safety, risk management and environmental health and safety.

Kadish comes to Northeastern from Dartmouth College, where he has served as Executive Vice President & Chief Financial Officer. Prior to this appointment, he was Director of Global Health Equity at Brigham & Women’s Hospital and the Undersecretary of the state’s Executive Office of Health and Human Services. He has also held senior positions at Harvard Pilgrim Health Care and the University of Massachusetts Medical School.

He earned his undergraduate degree from Tufts University, where he majored in political science and French. He also holds a master’s degree in city planning from MIT. He has been active in many civic and community organizations, with particular emphasis on health and related issues.

Kadish will join Northeastern in the early fall.
