Northeastern University Hosts First Annual Health Fair Joining Healthcare Organizations to Promote Healthy Living

Local Community Invited to All-Day Event to Receive Healthcare Information, Flu Shots, Cholesterol Test and Donate Blood

WHAT: Northeastern University is hosting its first annual Bouvé Health Fair and Flu Clinic to provide students and the local community an opportunity to learn about new services, ask questions about medications, get free advice on healthy living, or to try the sun damage facial analyzer, and get blood pressures checks. The event is also intended to raise cancer and disease awareness. In addition to the free services and learning opportunities, $25 flu shots and 12$ cholesterol tests, the day’s events will include a blood drive with Massachusetts General Hospital providing a second bloodmobile due to the large number of volunteers who have already signed up to donate.

Joining Northeastern for the event are several professional organizations, including Massachusetts General Hospital, American Pharmacists Association, AIDS Action Committee, Families for Depression Awareness, Healthy Achievers, Melanoma Awareness Education Group, and the Melanoma Education Foundation, who will provide free counseling and literature on different health conditions, among other useful services for those who want to take control of their health.

Additional services offered to visitors at the event include smoking cessation clinic; HIV awareness and testing information; alcohol awareness; diabetes awareness; oral cancer awareness; hearing damage due to loud noises awareness; depression awareness; counseling on melanoma and skin damage, among others.

Student and university organizations also participating in the all-day event, in addition to the primary organizers Phi Delta Chi and the Bouvé College of Health Sciences, include Northeastern University Public Safety, Student Government Association, Lamda Kappa Sigma, Rho Chi, Student Nurses Association, Student National Pharmaceutical Association and the University Health and Counseling Services at Northeastern.

Phi Delta Chi is a Professional Pharmacy Fraternity at Northeastern University, with the mission to further the profession of pharmacy and its allied health sciences.
