What caused Navy destroyer's deadly collision?
On Saturday, a U.S. Navy destroyer collided with a Philippine container ship off the coast of Japan, resulting in the deaths of seven Navy sailors. Peter Boynton, co-director of Northeastern’s George J. Kostas Research Institute for Homeland Security, says there are still too many unknowns to pinpoint the cause of the crash, but notes that the ships’ pattern of damage suggests that the accident occurred when the two vessels were trying to cross paths.
