Dear Northeastern University community,
Northeastern is adopting health and safety measures to promote a safe start to the fall term: masks required indoors on our U.S. and Canadian campuses, weekly testing at our U.S. campuses, and a vaccine requirement for U.S. and Toronto-based faculty, staff, and students.
Regarding the indoor mask requirement, the information below provides guidance for certain scenarios on our U.S. and Canadian campuses:
- In campus situations where an instructor or a presenter or a performer can maintain a distance of at least six feet from everyone else, they may temporarily remove their mask while actively speaking or performing.
- On any campus locations where local mask guidelines are more restrictive, faculty and students should continue to follow local guidance.
As a reminder, Northeastern is requiring that faculty, staff, and students on these campuses upload proof of vaccination—no later than September 7 for Toronto-based faculty, staff, and students and no later than September 8 for U.S.-based faculty and staff. Everyone can be confident that others around them are vaccinated, unless they have an approved exemption.
Thank you for your continued diligence in keeping our community safe.
Regards,
David Madigan
Provost and Senior Vice President for Academic Affairs
