Reimers joined Northeastern in 2014 and focuses her research on how new technology effects firms and consumers, including how policymakers may adjust intellectual property policy to ensure efficient market outcomes. She was born in Germany, and played tennis in college at the University of Nebraska, where she was the first Academic All-American in the history of women’s tennis at the university. Nowadays, she has several hobbies that keep her active throughout the year. Click the + signs to learn more about her and the items in her office. Boxing gloves X Imke started Muay Thai kickboxing about three years ago when she was taking a fitness boot camp and her instructor suggested she give it a try. She said it’s a great workout, and she keeps her gloves in her office for those moments when she wants to hit the boxing bag at the Marino Center. Volcano photo X Imke took this photo in May 2017 while descending from the Acatenango volcano in Guatemala. She climbed some 13,000 feet up the volcano while visiting the country for a friend’s wedding. “In college, I wrote a bucket list and one of the items was to stand on the edge of a volcano,” she says. Face cutout X This headshot was taken after she had competed in an obstacle race in Boston, but it made an unexpected appearance while she was out celebrating her 30th birthday with friends at a German restaurant. She says her friends lured her away from the table briefly and were all holding up cutouts of her face when she returned. These days, she’ll sometimes put the cutout in the window of her office in Lake Hall when she’s away. Bike helmet X Imke commutes to Northeastern by bike from her home in Somerville, Massachusetts. She spends a lot of time in her helmet, especially when she’s participating in half Ironman and other triathlon competitions. Squash racquet X Imke plays squash at SquashBusters with Mindy Marks, an associate professor of economics. She says her Prince racquet is “old and shabby,” but it “serves its purpose.” Foam paw X Imke got this red and black foam paw while attending her first men’s hockey game at Matthews Arena two seasons ago with a friend. Northeastern beat Boston University in overtime, she recalls.
