Five easy ways students can save money by Haley Steele September 16, 2015 Share Facebook LinkedIn Twitter One of the perks of being a college student is the advantage of student discounts offered by many stores and services. Flashing your Husky Card around Boston or registering for online subscriptions with your Northeastern email address is an easy way to use your student status to save money. Here are five ways to cash in on student discounts before you graduate. 1. Shopping Heading to the Prudential Center or Copley Place for some new fall clothes? Show your Husky Card to receive 15 percent off at Ann Taylor, Ann Taylor LOFT, Vineyard Vines, J. Crew, and Banana Republic, and 20 percent off at Club Monaco. Stop by the customer service desk at the Prudential Center with your student ID and you’ll get a free 2015 PRUferred card, which includes additional offers and discounts. 2. Boston tourist attractions Venture off campus and explore some of Boston’s best tourist attractions at a discounted rate with your student ID. View the city from the top of the Prudential Center with a discounted student ticket at the Skywalk Observatory, or take a Boston Duck Tour at a less expensive price when you show your Husky Card. The New England Aquarium offers discounted admission and IMAX tickets to college students when you show a university ID at the ticket counter. 3. Subscriptions College students can subscribe to Amazon Student with a valid university email address to receive six months of free two-day shipping and exclusive student deals. Spotify offers 50 percent off on a Spotify Premium membership when you register with your student email address, and news outlets like The Boston Globe, The New York Times, and The Wall Street Journal all offer discounted subscriptions for students. 4. Movies/entertainment Save money on movie tickets with daily deals for students at Regal Fenway Cinemas and Student Thursdays at AMC Loews Boston Common. Students also receive $5 off tickets at the Improv Asylum in the North End for comedy shows every night except Saturday. A visit to the Museum of Fine Arts is free for all Northeastern students with your Husky Card, and entry to the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum costs only $5 with a student ID. Boston area sports teams also offer student rates for home games hosted at Fenway Park and the TD Garden. Standing-room-only tickets for regular season Red Sox games go for just $9 with a student ID, while both the Bruins and Celtics host student nights with discounted tickets available. 5. Travel Northeastern students can join Zipcar for only $15, and Amtrak offers a Student Advantage Card that saves students 10 percent on most rail fares. For students looking to travel internationally, StudentUniverse and STA Travel provide deals on flights and vacation packages.
