WeekendWatch: Turkey, Black Friday and more! by Matt Collette November 22, 2011 Share Facebook LinkedIn Twitter Photo by Mary Knox Merrill. Campus may feel rather empty this weekend, with scores of students flocking back home for the Thanksgiving long weekend. But if you’re staying around campus, there are still plenty of ways to make the most of the holiday, thanks to a full slate of activities sponsored by Student Affairs. Turkey dinner: A traditional Thanksgiving meal — turkey, stuffing, pumpkin pie and more — will be served Thursday from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. in the Stetson East Dining Hall. A meal plan is required. Black Friday: Need to burn off some calories after Thursday’s massive Thanksgiving dinner? Why not shop ’til you drop at the Wrentham Outlets on Black Friday? Buses will take students to the suburban shopping mecca, leaving from Forsyth Street at 10 a.m. and departing from Wrentham at 5 p.m. Space is limited, so sign up early by e-mailing Tamu Schwoeffermann at t.schwoeffermann@neu.edu. Free movies: Student Affairs will screen “Super 8,” the Steven Spielberg-inspired summer blockbuster by “Lost” creator J.J. Abrams, on Friday evening in AfterHours. On Saturday, AfterHours is hosting a screening of “The Hangover, Part II,” the outrageous sequel to the original “Hangover.” Each free screening starts at 8 p.m., with doors opening at 7:30. $5 passes: All weekend, passes to the New England Aquarium and its IMAX theatre are available for just $5 from Tamu Schwoeffermann in Speare Commons. For more information on any of the Student Affairs-sponsored events, contact Tamu Schwoeffermann via e-mail or at (617) 373-7515.
