Northeastern may not be winning on the scoreboard, but they are winning with fans — even on the university’s campus in Oakland, California.
Big screens above the fireplace in Rothwell Student Union are broadcasting the game. In the crowd was 2019 electrical engineering graduate Sofia Benitez Quevedo, who works at Lockheed Martin and drove from Mountain View to watch the game with friends.
“I really like Beanpot. It’s the only sporting event I really like following,” she said. “When we found out there were going to be events in the Bay Area I was like, let’s go!”

With Boston College’s Drew Fortescue serving a holding penalty, the Huskies managed two shots on goal, but could not convert.

Tiger Woods wears red on Sundays to win golf tournaments and the Northeastern men’s hockey team wears red to win the Beanpot.
The Huskies have won four straight Beanpot games — and two straight championships — all wearing red.
Tonight’s jersey color against Boston College — red, of course.
Northeastern beat BU, 3-1, and Harvard, 3-2, in OT in 2003. Last year, the Huskies beat Harvard, 3-2, and BU, 4-3, both games in OT.
Northeastern wore its black jerseys during its last Beanpot defeat, a 1-0 loss to BU in the 2022 final.

Boston University punched its ticket to the final with a 7-1 win over Harvard.
Casey Severo scored for the Crimson (7-12-2) 5:44 into the game, but it was all Terriers after that.

Boston University leads Harvard, 6-1, after two periods of the first semifinal.
Devin Kaplan has scored twice, while Shane Lachance, Cole Hutson, Quinn Hutson and Jack Harvey have the other goals for the Terriers (14-9-1).
Casey Severo has scored for the Crimson (7-11-2).
The last time Northeastern and Boston College met, the Huskies upset the then third-ranked Eagles, 4-2, at Matthews Arena on Nov. 23.
Dylan Hryckowian scored twice for Northeastern, while Jackson Dorrington and Jack Williams had the other goals.
Since that game, BC is 10-1, while Northeastern is 7-6.
Williams scored in the Huskies’ 4-3 overtime win over Boston University in last year’s Beanpot final.
The last Beanpot game between Northeastern and BC came in 2022 when the Huskies defeated the Eagles, 3-1, in a semifinal.
Northeastern will face top-ranked Boston College at 8 p.m. Monday in the semifinals of the 72nd annual men’s Beanpot at TD Garden.
It’s a clash of the best team in the country vs. the best Beanpot team of the decade.
The Eagles are 19-4-1, while the Huskies (9-12-3) have won two straight titles and five of the last six.
The Huskies defeated Boston University in overtime in last year’s final.
Last week, Northeastern defeated BU to win its 20th women’s Beanpot title.
