Big screens above the fireplace in Rothwell Student Union are broadcasting the game. In the crowd was 2019 electrical engineering graduate Sofia Benitez Quevedo, who works at Lockheed Martin and drove from Mountain View to watch the game with friends.

“I really like Beanpot. It’s the only sporting event I really like following,” she said. “When we found out there were going to be events in the Bay Area I was like, let’s go!”

  11. Huskies take the ice for warmups wearing lucky red jerseys

Tiger Woods wears red on Sundays to win golf tournaments and the Northeastern men’s hockey team wears red to win the Beanpot.

The Huskies have won four straight Beanpot games — and two straight championships — all wearing red.

Tonight’s jersey color against Boston College — red, of course.

Northeastern beat BU, 3-1, and Harvard, 3-2, in OT in 2003. Last year, the Huskies beat Harvard, 3-2, and BU, 4-3, both games in OT.

Northeastern wore its black jerseys during its last Beanpot defeat, a 1-0 loss to BU in the 2022 final.

The Eagles are 19-4-1, while the Huskies (9-12-3) have won two straight titles and five of the last six.

The Huskies defeated Boston University in overtime in last year’s final.
