The show to benefit the DiFava family will take place at 7:15 p.m. Wednesday at Lil Chuck, a comedy club at the Charles Playhouse in Boston.
They call themselves Noah’s Knights. And these officers in the Northeastern University Police Department are on a quest to help a colleague and his family as they face a cancer diagnosis.
And since laughter — as they say — is the best medicine, this quest includes a comedy show fundraiser.
“We thought that everybody could use some comedy in their life, and it would be a good night to get together and support the family, and just get away from stress,” said Rachel Jolliffe, a member of the NUPD.
Officers have organized a comedy show fundraiser to help support the family of colleague Michael DiFava as his son Noah, 7, undergoes treatment for brain cancer.
The show will take place Wednesday, Nov. 13, at Lil Chuck, a comedy club at the Charles Playhouse in Boston. The show features four comedians — Kelly Macfarland, Tony V., Corey Rodrigues and Will Noonan — and includes raffles and a silent auction. Doors open at 6 p.m. and the comedians are scheduled to take the stage at 7:15 p.m.
Tickets cost $25 and are available at the Lil Chuck website or at the door. Donations will also be accepted for those who cannot attend.
The show will benefit Officer DiFava and his family, whose lives have been rocked since Noah was diagnosed with cancer and began aggressive treatment.
“We want to alleviate a little bit of pressure financially in this overwhelming time,” says Jolliffe, who has worked with Officer DiFava for 22 years.
“Anything we can do to help the family,” Jolliffe continues. “We want them to know that we’re the army and we’re fighting for them.”
