From a Second Chance Senior Prom aboard a boat to Red Sox games, movie nights and Duck Tours, this year’s Senior Week has something for everyone.
Northeastern University’s commencement is just around the corner, but before seniors strut across the graduation stage in their caps and gowns, they can celebrate in style during Senior Week.
Beginning April 26 and running until May 2, Senior Week is a weeklong celebratory sendoff for seniors. Those who are interested in taking part in Senior Week activities must register here. Just keep in mind that Senior Week events will sell out. Senior Week is open to undergraduate students who are graduating between December 2023 and September 2024 and have completed the application to graduate.
Senior Week 2024 kicks off on Friday, April 26, with a Second Chance Senior Prom aboard the Provincetown II, as the glitz and glamor of the Roaring ’20s and Old Hollywood take over for a night on the harbor. Boarding takes place at Seaport World Trade Center starting at 6 p.m., and the boat leaves the dock at 7 p.m. before returning at 9:30 p.m.
The following day, April 27, seniors can attend a Red Sox game and get familiar with Fenway Park a week before commencement fills the ballpark with friends, family and fellow graduates. First pitch for the Red Sox game against the Chicago Cubs is at 4:10 p.m.
Just in case seniors missed a chance to stuff a husky plushie as a freshman, they will have another opportunity to get a fluffy friend on April 28 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in Curry Ballroom. Even if you’ve already stuffed a husky, don’t miss out on a chance to grab a kit and get one that’s decked out in graduation gear.
Senior Cinema Sendoff begins the next leg of Senior Week on Monday, April 29, with exclusive Class of 2024 screenings of either “Kung Fu Panda 4” or “Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire.” Starting at 7 p.m., seniors can grab some popcorn and drinks and enjoy a night out at the movies with their fellow Huskies.
Tuesday, April 30, is packed with Senior Week events all day. From 11 a.m. to noon, students can start the day at Raytheon Amphitheater with the annual “Last Lecture.” This year’s inspirational lecture will be delivered by Daniele Mathras, associate teaching professor of marketing.
Students can then head over to Curry West Addition Mezzanine between noon and 3 p.m. for an arts and crafts party where they can decorate their caps and mortarboards ahead of commencement. There will also be other craft opportunities, like scrapbooking and vision boarding.
Closing out the day seniors can make their way to Time Out Market between 7:30 and 10:30 p.m. for a Class of 2024 takeover. A collection of highly rated restaurants led by revered chefs as well as drinks, a DJ and karaoke will make for a night to remember.
Wednesday, May 1, is another jam-packed day, starting with a morning yoga session at Carter Field from 9:30 to 10 a.m. Guided by Laura Dudley, an associate clinical professor in Bouvé College of Health Sciences, seniors can stretch and prepare themselves for the rest of the day. Plus, the first 175 attendees get a free Northeastern yoga mat.
Throughout the day, seniors can also trek across Boston in style on a Boston Duck Tour. Learn more about the city, its history and neighborhoods both by land and water with your fellow seniors. Tours start at 10 a.m., noon and 2 p.m. and depart from Forsyth Circle.
Close out the penultimate day of Senior Week with the Senior Donor Champagne Reception at 7 p.m. for seniors who have donated $20.24 or more during this academic year. Invitations will be sent to donors closer to the date of the reception.
Senior Week ends Thursday, May 2, with a party to end all parties. For seniors who are 21 and over with a valid ID, Thirsty Thursday at Wild Rover will provide four floors of karaoke, trivia, beats and drinks to close out a week’s worth of celebrations.
