Our Facilities and Public Safety teams have cleaned up downed trees and minor flooding over the past few days in preparation for the return of students. We will continue to monitor the weather and manage any impact as necessary. Please note the following: Classes – Spring term classes will take place as planned and faculty have been requested to be flexible with respect to any weather-related delays that might affect student travel back to campus. If students need support navigating any delays that will have an impact on academics please communicate directly with your faculty and/or email our Lead Care Manager for support at oaklandsupport@northeastern.edu. Student Support – Student support services are open and operational as usual. Residence Halls are open and ready to welcome our students. Residential students who encounter any travel delays are asked to communicate with our Student Coordinator or Residential Assistant and keep them up to date on your return. Dining – Both Founders and Tea Shop are open and operational during normal hours. ITS – The Prieto Tech Bar at Rothwell Center is open and available for your technology questions and needs, Monday – Friday, 8 a.m. – 5 p.m. In addition, 24/7 IT support is available at 617.373.4357, help@northeastern.edu, and service.northeastern.edu/tech. Transportation – The safety shuttle service is operating according to its normal schedule. Parking/Road/Building Closures – Given the recent weather and possibility for additional rain this weekend, please use the following parking areas: CPM upper lot near shuttles, Lisser, Richards Road, Gaia and Student Union. Currently all walking/jogging trails and bridges have been closed and we expect to reopen them when the rain lets up. The trail from Kapiolani to CPM/Children’s school is closed for the time being. As always, please exercise caution when walking on campus, be aware of your surroundings and thank you in advance for observing all closure signage. Power Outage Safety Tips/General Safety Tips – To prepare for a possible power outage, keep your iPad, cell phone and other devices fully charged and a portable power supply handy. If the power goes out, you can help prevent damage to your electronics and appliances by unplugging them – computers, speakers, and other equipment. Keep refrigerators and freezer doors closed. If you see a downed power line, please call Public Safety. Avoid flooded roadways and sidewalks.
