March at Northeastern meant new research, community spirit–and plenty of hockey

March was bustling at Northeastern: Students made their voices heard in protest of the war in Ukraine and in support of Ukrainians everywhere, while faculty shared their expertise with the world to analyze and contextualize Russia’s invasion of it’s neighboring country. The women’s hockey team clinched the Hockey East championship, but lost in a grueling double overtime match against Minnesota Duluth for the NCAA title. The men’s hockey team suffered a similarly bitter defeat in overtime against Western Michigan in the opening round of their NCAA championship. Still, there was much to celebrate: Students on Northeastern’s Boston campus donned beads and masks for Mardi Gras, and showered revelers with colored powder for Holi. March may come in like a lion and leave like a lamb, but at Northeastern, it’s Huskies all month.
