The Career Development department is hosting a weeklong series of workshops and events for first-, second-, and third-year students looking to jumpstart their co-op and internship searches.

Dubbed “Career Week,” the program will run from Wednesday, Feb. 8 to Wednesday, Feb. 15, culminating in the Undergraduate Internship Fair.

Here’s a rundown of upcoming events:

Find an internship

The program will begin on Wednesday at 4 p.m. in 12 Stearns Center, where Career Services staff will show students how to find internships.

Participants—who have been asked to bring their laptops to the hourlong workshop—will learn how to research potential employers and utilize internship-related search engines like Husky Career Link. They will also receive a crash course in networking.

Interviewing 101

The interviewing workshop on Thursday at noon in 12 Stearns Center is designed for students looking to improve their interviewing technique. During the hourlong tutorial, they will have the opportunity to practice their response to common interview questions while getting tips on how to prepare for the big day.

What’s co-op actually like?

A panel of undergraduates who have completed co-ops in finance, product development, and other industries will share their experiences with first- and second-year students on Thursday at 6 p.m. in 20 Stetson East. The conversation will focus on navigating the shift to life as a co-op; best practices for interacting with co-workers; and organizing your time on the job to achieve maximum success.

How to pitch yourself to employers

Students will have the opportunity to practice their pitches to employers on Monday, Feb. 13 at 5:30 p.m. in 202 Stearns Center. The workshop will be divided into two parts. During the first segment, participants will learn some networking tips from a panel of employers. During the second segment, they will have time to practice their pitches with the employers, who will offer them feedback.

How to perfect your resumé

A perfect resumé won’t guarantee that you’ll land your dream job, but it will help you get your foot in the door. On Tuesday, Feb. 14 at 4 p.m. in 12 Stearns Center, students will get a crash course on how to create a resumé, with a particular focus on drafting job descriptions.

Internship Fair

Career Week will conclude with the Undergraduate Internship Fair, which will be held on Wednesday, Feb. 15 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the Curry Student Center Ballroom.

First-, second-, and third-year students should bring their resumés and be prepared to apply for internship positions with hiring employers. Attendance at the fair is required for the chance to receive an invite to a same-day interview during the on-campus recruiting portion of the event.

Employers will extend invitations to selected students, who will be invited to interview for open positions from 2:30 to 5 p.m. in the Stearns Center.
