We’re on Snapchat! Introducing NortheasternU by Ian Hurley September 7, 2015 Share Facebook LinkedIn Twitter NortheasternU, the university’s Snapchat, launched in September 2015. Just like a fresh new outfit for the first day of school, Northeastern is starting the new semester in style with the launch of its Snapchat account, NortheasternU. Our aim with Snapchat is to capture moments and stories of life at Northeastern that are meaningful for the entire Northeastern community. The NortheasternU Snapchat experience will be fun as well as informative. It will offer a look at some of the amazing events and people that shape our community. Throughout the fall semester the NortheasternU account will post a variety of stories from Fall Fest, to President’s Convocation, to Homecoming, and much, much more. Here’s how to get involved: Save the photo at the top of this story to your camera roll or smartphone Login to Snapchat Click the ghost logo at the top of your screen Click “Add Friends” Click “Add by Snapcode” Find the snapcode you saved to your phone in Step 1 You’re done! Now go snap us a selfie Snapchat is a social media application for iPhones and Androids that uses photo and video messaging to share real-time events. It is one of the fastest growing social media channels and has nearly 100 million daily users worldwide, according to Snapchat CEO Evan Spiegel. Not familiar with Snapchat? Here’s how it works: Users take videos and photos and send them as “Snaps” via the app to friends or they can publish them to a public “My Story.” Users can also further customize their messages by adding text, emojis, and drawings to the photos and videos. Also, the app only allows users to view public stories for 24 hours, then those stories are erased. “Snaps” that someone sends directly to another person can only be viewed twice within a one-day span, then the message disappears.
