Northeastern University President Joseph E. Aoun and the Board of Trustees have invited students, faculty, staff, alumni and friends to the official naming of the D’Amore-McKim School of Business on Friday at noon in Blackman Auditorium.

Members of the Northeastern community who are unable to attend the celebration may watch a live video of the festivities on the university’s website. The celebration will be followed by a slate of events throughout the afternoon, including a reception, a plenary panel and a series of faculty presentations.

The naming ceremony will feature remarks by Richard D’Amore, BA’76, and Alan McKim, MBA’88, two proud Northeastern alumni who have joined forces to make the largest philanthropic investment in the university’s history. As a result of their combined $60 million gift, Northeastern’s College of Business Administration will be renamed in their honor.

“Rich and Alan are role models and their continued commitment to Northeastern inspires us all,” said Joseph E. Aoun, president of Northeastern University. “Their investment will impact the future of this university for generations to come and we are proud to celebrate their leadership.”

D’Amore is a co-founder and gen­eral partner at North Bridge Ven­ture Part­ners, a ven­ture cap­ital firm based in Waltham, Mass. McKim is the founder and CEO of Clean Har­bors, the nation’s leading provider of envi­ron­mental, energy and indus­trial services.

Their record-breaking gift will have a profound impact across every dimension of business education and research in the School of Business, which has been cited for the excellence of its programs in experiential learning and entrepreneurship. The school comprises 136 world-class faculty members, 3,347 undergraduate students and a network of more than 45,000 alumni.

Following the naming ceremony, members of the Northeastern community may attend a reception and student showcase in the indoor quad at the Curry Student Center. The event will give guests a chance to speak with School of Business students about their global experiences in the Bachelor of Science in International Business program and try food from some of the countries where they have studied.

A plenary panel discussion about the future of business education will take place at 2 p.m. in the Curry Student Center Ballroom. Panelists include Sy Sternberg, ME’68, former chairman and CEO of New York Life and chairman emeritus of the Board of Trustees; Fran Janis, senior partner at Pomona Capital; and Hugh Courtney, dean of the D’Amore-McKim School of Business.

The plenary panel discussion will be followed by a series of simultaneous presentations by faculty and industry leaders on topics ranging from innovation and entrepreneurship to improving the quality and efficiency of health care. Guests will have the option of choosing from two different presentations in the Curry Student Center at 3 p.m. and 3:50 p.m.

A closing reception including dessert will follow at 4:30 p.m. in the indoor quad.
