(2-23-07) BOSTON, Mass. – Northeastern University will host a week of workshops, panel discussions, and networking activities that celebrate entrepreneurship and provide college students and Boston residents with resources and advice on starting their own businesses, taking place from February 26 to March 2.
These events are part of EntrepreneurshipWeek USA, a nationwide initiative for promoting entrepreneurship comprised of 1,000 schools, businesses, and partnering organizations, and co-sponsored by the Kauffman Foundation, a $2 billion institution that advocates business creation and improving education.
EntrepreneurshipWeek USA activities at Northeastern will include:
• Breakfast of Champions panel discussions, where faculty and business leaders discuss entrepreneurial opportunities in the cutting-edge fields of music, gaming, biotechnology, health technology, and nanotechnology. Guest speakers will include executives from the music, video game, and pharmaceutical industries.
• A Minority Entrepreneurs Networking Event bringing together business leaders from diverse backgrounds who will discuss challenges they have faced and successes they have enjoyed as entrepreneurs. Speakers include the founders of Causemedia, Functional Pharmaceuticals, and the Waldwin Group.
• Entrepreneurship Workshops, where faculty and business leaders provide advice on such topics as starting a business, attracting investors, and identifying opportunities in such fields as digital media, music, and social activism. Northeastern will also host a “Web 2.0” workshop on harnessing new technologies to ensure entrepreneurial success.
• An Entrepreneurship Resources Fair, where business owners and budding entrepreneurs can connect with organizations that provide small business loans, access to technical and administrative resources, small business counseling, and economic development services.
