Northeastern University Hosts Third Annual Beanpot of Comedy by News@Northeastern - Contributor January 25, 2007 Share Facebook LinkedIn Twitter Contact: Matt Collette at 617-373-5471 (1-25-07) BOSTON, Mass. – On Friday, January 26, Northeastern will host the third annual Beanpot of Comedy. The event, hosted by NU and Improv’d, the university’s premiere comedy group, will take place at 8:00 p.m. at Blackman Auditorium. The show will also feature performances by Boston College’s troupe Asinine and Salem State College’s troupe Grandma’s Third Leg. “The Beanpot of Comedy is a great way for NU & Improv’d to push the envelope in a very silly and good natured way,” said Sam Solomon, a member of the university’s comedy group. Tickets are $5 for the public, $2 for Northeastern students and are available at the door or at the Blackman Auditorium box office. NU and Improv’d is an improvisational comedy troupe of Northeastern students. They performed at Caroline’s on Broadway in Manhattan twice in the last year, in addition to their regular, on-campus performances. “The Beanpot will have it all,” said Soloman, “some skits from NU & Improv’d to get the night going, some great sketch comedy from BC’s Asinine, and some really creative improv from Salem State.” Last year’s Beanpot of Comedy was recognized by Northeastern’s Center for University Programming as the best on-campus program of 2006. “This is the kind of school-sponsored event that is always worth going to. In addition to being a great night out with your friends, it’s also a great way to connect with the Northeastern community,” said Solomon. “Plus, it’s a lot more fun than physics homework.” About Northeastern: Founded in 1898, Northeastern University is a private research university located in the heart of Boston.
