Are peaceful protests more effective than violent ones?
Largely peaceful protests against the killing of Black people by police have been occasionally marred by outbreaks of violence as police use tear gas and rubber bullets on crowds and protesters loot stores and burn cars. But while violence might seem like the fastest route to social change, it’s not the most sustainable, says Gordana Rabrenovic, associate professor of sociology.
