Running experiments­–at home and in the lab

If you walked by one of Tracy Carter’s chemical engineering courses last week, you would have seen students testing the cohesion of household items: water, soapy water, vegetable oil—even ketchup and mayo were on the table. Some of those students were in the lab in the Mugar Life Sciences Building, and some joined from home via video, displayed on giant TV screens, a setup that has “worked really well,” one student says.

Record number of undergraduate students apply to Northeastern for fall 2021

Northeastern University received more than 75,000 undergraduate applications for the 2021-22 academic year—a record number that university officials attribute to a range of factors, including its leadership in experiential learning, a strengthening global brand, and a successful reopening of the university during the pandemic.

Northeastern introduces Hybrid NUflex, a safe, flexible way for students to learn anywhere

Northeastern’s intention to reopen to students in the fall relies upon new, technology-equipped classrooms and flexible schedules that enable learning and teaching anywhere, anytime. The program, called NUflex, will prepare all classrooms for remote instruction, as well as in-person learning that meets public health guidelines to prevent the spread of the coronavirus.
