Meet the graduates: Tara Dunn

As an undergraduate, Tara Dunn jumped out of a plane five times—part of parachutist training at the United States Air Force Academy. On Friday, she graduates from the School of Law. The two experiences had something in common, she said: “It was a bumpy road in the beginning, but you gain your footing.”

For Kate Akkaya, who will graduate this week from Northeastern’s School of Law, a co-op in Turkey working with asylum-seekers was an experience that further cemented her dedication to humanitarian law. “It’s not just about helping your client,” she says. “It’s about the bigger picture.”

Ahmad Al Moujahed, a graduate student in the Bouvé College of Health Sciences, is dedicated to helping those who need it most. Right now, that means providing better healthcare for Syrians whose country has been ravaged by war. “Helping these people is imperative of us,” he says, “because we’ve had opportunities that they have not had.”
