Northeastern University has appointed a new general counsel to lead its broad portfolio of legal, risk, compliance and public safety operations. Mary Strother comes to the university from the office of Maura Healey, the Attorney General of Massachusetts, where she serves in the key leadership position of First Assistant Attorney General.
Vin Lembo retired last week after working at Northeastern for nearly four decades. The alumnus and longtime general counsel left an impact on the university that could be seen everywhere, from the physical buildings he helped usher in to the countless members of the university community he counseled and mentored. “He’s the best of the best—great lawyer, great leader, great advisor, great friend,” said Lisa Sinclair, the university’s associate vice president and deputy general counsel.
