    Blurr, the app that’s out to change how you share photos


    Three Northeastern students have co-founded a hyperlocal photo-sharing platform that connects people who are in the same place at the same time, like a party or sporting event. Now, the Blurr team is headed to South by Southwest to pitch its startup to entrepreneurs and investors as finalists in a national student startup competition.

    We spoke with three students who are participating in Alternative Spring Break this week, working at an animal sanctuary in Utah, an organic farm in Puerto Rico, and for a nutrition services program in Georgia.     Students spend spring break in Ecuador assisting children with disabilities


    A group of Northeastern engineering and physical therapy students have spent months developing devices designed to help children with disabilities at an orphanage in Ecuador. On Sunday, 15 students and their professor traveled to the South American country to spend their spring break working with these children.

  • Environment central to grassroots political initiative led by students, professor


    On Sunday night, Democratic presidential candidates Hillary Clinton and Bernie Sanders debated in Flint, Michigan, the city facing a devastating lead-contamination water crisis. For several Northeastern students, as well as professor Daniel Faber, the debate hit home on a very personal level, as the environment is central to a grassroots political initiative—called Environmentalists for Bernie.

  • Students work to expand understanding of immigration


    More than 180 students will be participating in the Center of Community Service’s Alternative Spring Break program this week. One group of young humanitarians will be volunteering with a Texas-based nonprofit that was founded by labor rights activist César Chávez to help families fight deportations and effect positive social change in their community.
