Passas awarded $500,000 grant from National Science Foundation for counterfeit medicine research

Nikos Passas, professor of criminology and criminal justice and co-director of the Institute for Security and Public Policy, was recently awarded a grant worth $500,000 for a research project titled “Financial and Network Disruptions in Counterfeit and Illegal Medicines Trade.” From the abstract, the project’s goal “is to develop and evaluate a network-enabled system that will identify points of intervention and coordinate stakeholders’ efforts to disrupt illicit flows of medical products.”
