Call for papers: “Fashioning London: Streets, Styles and Storytelling”

Dr. Alistair Robinson and Dr. Flora Lisica at Northeastern University London, together with Dr. Peter Jones at the Open University, are organizing the Literary London Conference, entitled “Fashioning London: Streets, Styles and Storytelling,” to be to be held July 6th and 7th, 2023, at Northeastern University London.

This year’s conference theme will “explore London’s role in the material production and circulation of fashions, styles and (sub)cultures.” The conference encourages material that “consider[s] any period or genre of literature about, set in, inspired by, or alluding to central and suburban London and its environs, from the city’s roots in pre-Roman times to its imagined futures.”

While the conference’s primary focus is on the literary, the organizers “actively encourage interdisciplinary contributions relating to the arts, culture, fashion, and film.”

Professor Shahidha Bari, an academic, critic and broadcaster based at the London College of Fashion (University of the Arts London), will deliver the keynote address.
