Jim Yong Kim, president of the World Bank, is scheduled to deliver Northeastern University’s 111th commencement address on May 3, the school’s president announced this week.

Kim, the former Dartmouth College president and a public health leader, will also receive an honorary degree during the morning ceremony at TD Garden in front of an expected crowd of about 20,000 undergraduate students, family members, friends and university leaders, officials said.

Northeastern president Joseph E. Aoun announced the plans for Kim to be the commencement speaker via Twitter Tuesday night.
